His Death, Our Victory

Hebrew 2:14,15
For as much as the children are partakers of flesh and blood , he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Jesus’ death is not just a story that he died for us on the cross. In his death on the cross he accomplished a lot for us; in his death on the cross he brought us victory.

In Hebrews 2:14 the Bible says that through death, Jesus destroyed him that had the power of death that is the devil. Jesus’ death destroyed the devil in our lives.

The New American Translation of the Bible renders it this way (Hebrews 2:14) “…that through death he might render powerless him who has the power of death, that is the devil ”. Through Jesus death, the devil is rendered powerless.

Hebrews 2:14 (Williams) “… in order that he by his death might put a stop to the power of him who has the power of death, that is the devil. Though Jesus death, he put a stop to the devil.

Hebrews 2:14 (Becks) “….in order to die and take away all the power of him who had the power of death, that is the devil. The devil is defeated in your live, this is the story of Easter.

Verse 15 of Hebrews chapter 2 continues by saying “And delivered them who through the fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage”. You are delivered. I’m not

Saying you will be delivered. No! You ARE delivered. From bondage, that is the bondage of sin, sickness and poverty. You are free. The truth of Easter brought us freedom from the devil. In our affairs he is defeated. Jesus’ death is our victory. Hold fast to this confession. “The devil is defeated in my life”.

1 Corinthians 2:6
Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: Yet not the wisdom of this world, nor the princes of this world, that come to naught.

The princes of this world are coming to naught or reducing to nothing. The devil is reducing to nothing. Poverty is reducing to nothing. We are victorious.

Colossians 2:15
Having spoiled principalities and powers…

In Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection, he spoiled principalities and powers.

Colossians 2:15

N.A.S. - “He had disarmed

Williams - "He thus stripped the principalities and dominions of power…"

Becks – "He stripped rulers and powers of their armor".

The devil has been disarmed, stripped of his power and armor, he is defeated. When you listen to some Christians today, you will feel as though the devil is getting stronger and stronger. You’ll feel the devil is unstoppable. But there is no where in the New Testament that we can see this. The Bible did not say he (the devil) is getting stronger. No! The Bible says he is defeated, he is disarmed, and he is stripped of his power and armor. Through Jesus’ death we have constant victory over him. He is not lord over you, neither is sin lord over you. You are to lord over them. This is the dominion that the death of Jesus brought to us, dominion over the devil, sin, sickness and lack.

Colossians 1:12,13
Giving thanks unto the father, which hath made us meet (able) to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: who hath delivered us from the dominion of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sin.

God the father had delivered us from the kingdom of darkness; from the lordship of darkness; from the dominion of darkness, that is the dominion of the devil. God delivered us through the death of Jesus. Make this your constant confession. You are delivered from sin, sickness, and poverty through the blood of Jesus. Stand strong in all situations holding fast to this confession, victory is sure. Jesus defeated the devil for you, he defeated sin for you, he defeated sickness for you and he defeated lack for you. Halleluya! You are free. Jesus’ death is our victory. Jesus’ death is the devil’s defeat. Jesus’ death is sickness’ defeat. The devil and his cohorts are defeated in our lives. His Death; Our Victory
